Payroll is processed on a monthly basis.

Income tax rates based on salary brackets: 0% up to 4,000 ZMW, 25% for 4,001 ZMW – 4,800 ZMW, 30% for 4,801 ZMW – 6,900 ZMW, and 37.5% for 6,901 ZMW and above.
Standard workweek consists of 8 hours per day, up to 48 hours per week. Overtime is paid at a rate of 150% salary.
Compassionate Leave provides 12 days fully paid by the employer for bereavement or other situations.
Mothers are entitled to 14 weeks of maternity leave, with an additional 4 weeks for multiple births. Full pay is provided for those employed with the same employer for 24 months. Post-maternity, workers have the right to return to their previous job or an equivalent position.
Family Responsibility Leave allows up to 7 days off per calendar year for workers with at least 6 months of service to care for a sick spouse, child, or dependent.
Sick leave is paid by the employer. The first 3 months are paid in full, followed by 3 months at half pay. A medical certificate is required from the second day.
Fathers are entitled to 5 continuous working days of paternity leave, paid in full by the employer. Eligibility requires 12 months of employment with the same employer.
Employees are entitled to 24 working days of annual leave, accruing at two days per month.
Public holidays include New Year’s Day, International Women’s Day, Youth Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Kenneth Kaunda Day, Labour Day, Africa Freedom Day, Heroes’ Day, Unity Day, Farmers’ Day, Prayer Day, Independence Day, and Christmas Day, totaling approximately 13 days per year.
